Delete an organisation

Deleting an Organisation removes it from DASH permanently. This is useful for tidying up records you created by mistake or clients you no longer work with — but it only works when no Materials are still attached.

Before you start

• You need the Organisations delete permission — see Roles & permissions.
• The Organisation must have no attached Materials. If any Material is still linked, the delete control is disabled.

When you can delete

An Organisation can only be deleted when it has no Materials attached. The record exposes a “can delete” state: the Delete control is available only when there are no attached Materials, and is disabled otherwise.

To free up an Organisation for deletion, first detach or reassign its Materials — see Edit & delete a Material. You could instead set the Organisation to Inactive to hide it without removing it — see Create & edit an organisation.

Delete the organisation

1. Open the Organisation from the All Organisations list.
2. Select Delete at the top of the record.
3. In the Delete Organisation dialog, confirm you want to remove it. This action cannot be undone.
4. Select Delete.

What happens on delete

• The deletion is permanent (a hard delete). The Organisation is not recoverable.
• The Organisation’s metadata fields are deleted with it.
• Any Materials that referenced the Organisation are not deleted — only their Organisation reference is cleared, so they no longer point to any Organisation.

This cannot be undone

There is no recycle bin. If you might need the record again, set it to Inactive instead of deleting it.
