Edit & delete a Material

Once a Material exists you can change its details as your work evolves, and delete it when it’s no longer needed — with one important limit: a Material can only be deleted while it has no Certificates.

  1. Open the Material and go to the Summary tab, where its Material Information is shown.
  2. Update any of:
    • Material Name and Material Description
    • StatusActive or Inactive
    • the associated Organisation and the Material type (Receiver or Supplier)
    • the date-handling options — see Material fields & dates
  3. Save your changes.

Metadata fields, assigned users and data channels are managed on their own tabs rather than the Summary form — see Material fields & dates, Assign users to a Material and Data channels overview.

  1. Open the Material record.
  2. Select Delete at the top of the record.
  3. In the Delete Material dialog, confirm you want to remove it. This action cannot be undone.
  4. Select Delete.

A Material cannot be deleted while any Certificate exists for it. If Certificates are present the delete control is disabled, and an attempt is refused with “Cannot delete project with existing submissions.” The same applies if a legacy Material-scoped Definition is still attached.

To remove the Material anyway, first delete its Certificates (only draft or awaiting-approval Certificates can be deleted — see Certificates overview).
