Create a definition
Creating a definition takes only a name. A new definition starts empty — you add its properties afterwards on the definition record. You can also attach it to a material during creation, or leave it unattached and link it later.
Create a definition
Section titled “Create a definition”- Open Definitions from the sidebar.
- Select the New Definition button (the + in the top-right of the list, or New Definition on the empty-state card).
- In the New Definition dialog, type a Definition name. This field is required.
- Optionally choose a Material (optional) from the dropdown to link the definition to a material now. Leave it on None — account-level only to keep it unattached.
- Select Create.
DASH creates the definition and opens its record page, ready for you to add properties.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”- A new definition has no properties. Add them on the record page, or use AI-assisted import to generate them from a sample file — see Add & manage properties and Import properties.
- Once at least one certificate references the definition it becomes locked — see Locking & archiving.
