Passkeys
A passkey lets you sign in to DASH without a password, using your device’s built-in security — a fingerprint, face scan or PIN (Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a phone’s biometrics). It is both faster and more phishing-resistant than a password. This page shows how to register, use and manage passkeys.
1. Register a passkey
Section titled “1. Register a passkey”- Open your user profile from Users in the sidebar and go to Security Settings.
- Choose to register a passkey. Your device prompts you to verify yourself with your biometric or PIN.
- Give the passkey a name you will recognise, such as “MacBook Touch ID” or “Work iPhone”. The name appears in your passkey list.
You can register more than one passkey — for example one on your laptop and one on your phone — so you are never locked out if a single device is unavailable.
2. Sign in with a passkey
Section titled “2. Sign in with a passkey”- On the Login screen, select Sign in with passkey.
- Your device prompts you to authenticate with your biometric or PIN.
- On success you are signed straight in. A passkey satisfies the strong-factor requirement on its own, so you are not asked for a separate authenticator code as well.
A failed passkey attempt returns a generic sign-in failure and does not sign you in.
3. Manage your passkeys
Section titled “3. Manage your passkeys”Security Settings lists each registered passkey by its name. From there you can:
- Rename a passkey — useful when you have several and want to tell them apart.
- Remove a passkey — the credential is no longer accepted at sign-in. Do this if you lose or retire a device.
Registering, renaming, removing and signing in with a passkey are all recorded in the Audit log.
